Nine Phases for the Perfect Paint Job

World-Class Manufacturing principles and the most advanced paint shop in Chrysler brand history have set the table for a first-class vehiclethe all-new 2015 Chrysler 200. The all-new paint shop at the Sterling Heights (Mich.) Assembly Plant (SHAP) features state-of-the-art technologies and offers customers a beautiful palette of exterior colors from which to choose – all the while reducing costs and the environmental impact of the paint operations. The tri-coat paint-shop robots rotate the vehicle 180 degrees, suspending it upside down and sideways in order to reach every crevice over and under the vehicle. The process also uses a 90 percent recyclable paint material. Below are the nine phases the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 goes through to achieve that polished look. Phase 1. Pretreatment Phase 2.
