In just two short weeks, the 8th Annual Benson OctoberFAST 5K Twilight Run/Walk, celebrating the life of J.B. Day, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 6pm at Greer First Baptist Church, Poinsett St., downtown Greer (will be held if it rains).
J.B. Day, who passed earlier this year, was the owner and operator of Riverbend Old Stockcar Racing Museum, and spent years of his life restoring classic cars and keeping the nostalgia of the racing world at the fingertips of Upstate racing fans who stopped by while visiting Greenville-Pickens Speedway. J.B. Day was an avid motorsports fan and collector of classic cars and racing memorabilia, and inspired many in their own passion for NASCAR and racing.
All proceeds of the Benson OctoberFAST 5K Twilight Run/Walk benefit Greer Community Ministries and its four programs: Meals on Wheels for the Greater Greer area, Senior Dining, Food Pantry and Sharon's Closet.
The Twilight Run/Walk is a certified, flat and fast course that begins and ends in historic downtown Greer. Following the race, cash prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Other prizes will be awarded to the top age group finishers. Race day registration is $30.
